PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES: EVIDENCE-BASED RESEARCH & BEST PRACTICES

A client's individual treatment plan will include both one-on-one psychological service.  A biopsychosocial assessment is performed upon admission to gather information regarding a client's substance abuse, co-occurring issues, and family history.  When a client presents with anxiety, depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), chronic pain or other co-occurring issues, these disorders are addressed in conjunction with their primary  addiction(s).

Quantum’s Oceanside Recovery utilizes evidence-based research and best practice therapies to ensure our clients receive the most contemporary and comprehensive treatment available, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Motivational Enhancement Therapy, Structured Group Therapy, Twelve Step Facilitation, and Brief Intervention.

COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (CBT)

A form of psychotherapy treatment that combines aspects of basic cognitive and behavioral principles. The goal of CBT is to help individuals change patterns of thinking or behavior by focusing on personal thoughts, beliefs and attitudes and how these views relate to the way the individual behaves. When a person changes their thoughts and behaviors, the way they feel also changes. It is important to understand the relationship between our problems, our behavior and our thoughts.

SOLUTION FOCUSED BRIEF THERAPY

A form of goal-oriented psychotherapy that focuses on an individual’s wants and desires for the present and the future, rather than focusing on the past experiences. Solution focused therapy helps motivate individuals to attain a desired outcome. The client and therapist work together to examine certain elements of the client’s life they wish to change and then determine the necessary skills, strategies, and resources the client will develop and use to achieve it.

RATIONAL EMOTIVE BEHAVIOR THERAPY

Focuses on resolving behavioral problems and emotional disturbances to allow individuals to lead happier and more fulfilling lives. This form of psychotherapy involves disputing irrational beliefs that make people feel depressed, anxious or angry and changing these beliefs into rational ones.

MOTIVATIONAL ENHANCEMENT THERAPY

A form of motivational interviewing and therapy which is commonly used for the treatment of addictions. Motivational Enhancement Therapy helps clients learn and implement positive affirmations as well as develop a sense of inner willingness to facilitate change in their lives. Additionally, it is used as a tool for gaining control of unwanted behavior patterns and promoting self-control.

TWELVE STEP FACILITATION

A structured, individual driven approach to assist clients in the earliest stages of recovery from alcohol abuse, drug abuse and other addictions.

BRIEF INTERVENTION

A technique used to help reduces alcohol or drug misuse by motivating the client to think differently about their addiction. To make changes in their patterns of use, abuse or dependency and by providing those who choose to consume in moderation with the skills that allow them to do so in a healthier, safer way.
