EXPERIENTIAL THERAPY: ENGAGING IN HEALTHY BEHAVIORS AND ACTIVITIES
At Quantum's Oceanside Recovery clients will participate in a variety of therapeutic activities to address subconscious issues, increase knowledge, and develop healthy coping skills. Such experiential therapies may include, but are not limited to nature based therapy, creative arts, recreational therapy, interactive journaling, and movement therapy.
NATURE BASED THERAPY
Nature Based Therapy is a form of therapeutic intervention that takes place in a remote outdoor setting. Our strategic location allows clients to participate in group therapy outside of the treatment center. Group sessions may be held on the beach, at the park, or even during a peaceful canoe trip down the intracoastal waterway.
Creative Arts is a form of expressive therapy that allows clients to release and process their emotions through the use of painting, drawing, crafting, and other creative activities. It helps clients manage their thoughts and feelings, improve self-esteem, and reduce stress.
Recreational Therapy involves fitness training and wellness education activities. Clients have access to onsite fitness equipment as well as privileges at a local fitness club. Additional activities include bicycling, tennis, golf, canoeing, etc.
Weekly Interactive Journaling groups provide an evidence-based approach to recovery designed to help clients learn and practice strategies to change their behaviors related to alcohol and other drug use. Journaling topics include substance dependency, spirituality, feelings, relapse prevention, and life management.
Movement Therapy is another form of expressive therapy that also involves dance, such as zumba to improve the mental and physical well-being of an individual, reduce stress, and increase social skills.
